Half Up Half Down Hairstyles for Curly Hair
Welcome to Half Up Half Down Hairstyles for Curly Hair
You may have been interested in one or all of these styles but the biggest take away from my training’s is how a style is broken down into steps. If you can focus on the steps and see how they build, then you can apply this method to all of your updos.
Half up half down looks are very popular with all ages and fit for all style preferences.
My steps will allow you to alter the finished look for your and your clients personal tastes.
These are great to follow and learn while doing but the training will also grow your creativity and confidence too.

A little bit about half-up styles!
Half Up Half Down Updo Tutorials
This romantic half up look is perfect for a wedding or Renaissance Prom look. Stop the slides as you work and practice, practice! Your clients will love this! It is the contrast of the straight top and the back curls that make this look stand out! If working on a curly hair client use a straight iron to smooth out the top!
Work with the clients natural wavy or curly hair. This look, once figured out, can be repeated on others in just minutes! It also works on straight hair or use hot rollers for more fullness.
The best way to approach this style is to have the client air dry her curls with her favorite product in it for curl definition. Or, you can wash and diffuse her hair before starting this look. Either way it is best not to use any brush but just your fingers and a comb for teasing the top. Super quick and super easy but a lot of wild fun!
Skill Supporting Videos:
These styles and others within my courses utilize the method of creating knots with the hair. It may sound scary to some newbies, but they are an easy and fun way to put up your hair. Enjoy!
Enjoy this clear demonstration of how to curl your hair three ways with one tool. If you want curls in the bottom of your half up style this video is a perfect resource for you. If you are doing curls for body and an updo prep, be sure to clip each curl after you make it. Once they are cooled, let them down and begin your hairstyle!
Hot rollers are a great tool to have for your updo clients. I see many people rely on using just a curling iron but mastering hot rollers saves time. Setting a client in hot rollers gives her a break to rest emotionally for her upcoming special occasion and allows you to start on another updo increasing your per-hour intake. This is also a great time to send her to the make-up artist. If a client sits a long time in one spot they can get antsy and stressed. We want to prevent that for her special day!
