Be in a better position to benefit from therapy
Understand the process of therapy better
Avoid common pitfalls that even most therapists miss
Save a lot of time, money and frustration

This course was originally conceived for the person who is now, or plans on, receiving therapy, hypnotherapy or psychotherapy services for any purpose. After 2600 students we realized that the content of the course applies to life as a whole and not simply to the prospective therapy client – hence the idea of “life as therapy”.

The course is delivered in a fashion analogous to your therapy sessions themselves: you will feel as though you are sitting across a hypnotherapist who is explaining to you how to maximize the benefits of each of your sessions, and the process as a whole. if you are looking for fancy visual effects, which often distract, this course is not for you.

For many years we noticed that not all students in our
hypnotherapy classes intended to practice the profession. When asked, they said
that they wanted to improve their understanding of themselves or of the
hypnotherapy process itself. Despite the obvious need for a course designed for
the current or prospective user, or consumer, of hypnotherapy, we could find
none.

This course therefore meets an important need. As
hypnotherapy becomes more mainstream each day, and a more important tool used
by millions in the improvement of their lives and the resolution of problems,
it becomes imperative to maximize the utility of the clinical encounter and
process. To that end, professional hypnotherapists all over the world are
advancing their skills to unprecedented levels.

When clients understand the process of therapy more
clearly, they participate actively in the achievement of their goals and
resolution of their problems. Therein lies the struggle for the client, however:
finding the right balance between surrendering to the process and micromanaging
each aspects of it.

This is where this course excels, in giving you some broad
ideas to ponder upon, to reflect, to think about that will help you find that
center for you.

This course is about what you can do to maximize the
benefit of any therapy for you. By taking this course you will be more likely to achieve your purpose for your therapy, feel good about yourself while in therapy, and absolutely save a whole lot of time, money and frustration. A must for anyone contemplating therapy, or currently in therapy.

Your instructor, since 1996, has done over 31000 therapy sessions with over 7000 clients and had over 3000 students.

Introduction

1
How this course came to be

The motivation that generated this course came from certification course students who never intended to practice hypnotherapy on one hand, and clients who expressed frustration for not understanding the process of therapy on the other.

2
Why this course is so important

In order for any interaction to be effective, each party must do their part in order to rise to the occasion and generate maximum benefit. this course is about what you can do as a consumer of therapy services in order to maximize its benefits to you.

3
The fundamental struggle for clients in any therapy

Understanding the nature of this struggle is the key to resolving it, and resolving it, or finding a center point, is key to your success in any therapy.

4
In the age of information, timely effective results are the key to a good life

Gone are the days when people laid down on couches and spent years talking about free ideas of little relevance. Today, clients expect much quicker and more effective results from therapy.

5
A bit about my background and where this information comes from

Just in case you were wondering, here you have a bit about my background. To some of you this may be relevant because it certainly shapes the views presented in this course.

A little bit about therapy

1
What is therapy?

There are spiritual, mental and physical forms of therapy. All are characterized by common elements.

2
What is the process of therapy like?

The process of therapy is awesome, and very comfortable. Although you may not know the origin of and solution to a problem, you do know what the problem is, what it is that you want to change. Therefore, therapy is never about pointing out what is wrong with you; that would be silly because we start therapy with that knowledge. therapy is about creating a better life for you.

3
What makes therapy work?

People seem to understand how a pill can cure a disease, but not how "talking" can improve our lives. Yet, the only tool used in all forms of psychotherapies is the spoken word, and people all over the world accomplish goals through the right words that no pill could match.

4
Is therapy tough? Does therapy hurt? Must I hurt to heal?

The idea that we heal and become better by hurting is a medieval myth. People do not heal by being put down. On occasion, we may have to et go of "dear habits" in order to heal and improve our lives.

5
Painful therapies, confrontation and sincerity

People usually dislike confrontation in therapy, or being shown that we are wrong in some way. by bringing your heart and all of your sincerity into the therapeutic encounter you will never feel confronted by your therapist.

6
The true meaning and importance of confidentiality

Confidentiality in therapy goes well beyond a legal notion; it is a sacred space created in therapy that allows for expression of one's true self and ultimately healing.

7
Pathology, development and enhancement

Imagine your ideal of "normal". When we feel less than normal we think of a therapy that can can help us restore function. When we want to do better than normal, we think of enhancement.

8
Consider this...

Consider reading the 1952 book The Power of Positive Thinking, by Dr Normal Vincent Peale. With over 5 million copies sold, this book has touched many lives, even for those who do not consider themselves religious or christians.

A little bit about hypnosis

1
What is hypnosis?

A very clear and easy to understand explanation of what hypnosis is all about.

2
What does it feel like to feel hypnotized?

Being open minded and receptive to ideas while being told that you are great can only feel awesome. This is what it feels like to be hypnotized.

3
Are there dangers to hypnosis?

Myths abound, yet no clear dangers have ever been identified to the therapeutic uses of hypnosis.

4
The hypnosis of life

We are all under the constant pressure of hypnosis, since life itself does that. perhaps what true hypnotherapists do is to actually help people come out of their own hypnotic dreams - into their own lives.

5
Consider this...

Life itself is the greatest hypnotist of them all. Perhaps hypnotherapists do not hypnotize people, perhaps they de-hypnotize people into being their true selves.

A broad overview of the therapy process

1
Contemplating who you have been; your point A

The process of therapy begins with a profound undertanding of what your life is really like; not what you think it is like, but what it really is. this phase of the process can be a bit difficult for some, particularly where too much denial is present.

2
Contemplating who you really want to be; your point B

Once you understand where you have been in your life, we need to develop a target, a goal. What we really want is not necessarily what we think we want. In the creative visualization course we cover this concept in much detail, but please keep in mind that the quality of this target, how well defined the objective is, is important for you to suceed in therapy.

3
Going from point A to point B

We move from current reality to your desired objective one session at a time. We start each session with feedback fro the previous session... what effect did our previous session have on you? We then make adjustments to the strategy as needed and proceed.

4
The process works: you can change

When a person brings sincerity and perseverance to the therapeutic process you can achieve anything.

5
One amazing example

This is a dramatic example of therapeutic success. What is your success going to be?

How do you know therapy is working for you

1
Being ON therapy versus being IN therapy

Therapy is finite and it has a specific purpose. This is a very important conversation.

2
The fundamental difference between therapy and education
3
You are discovering who you are
4
Consider this...

Consider looking at it this way

1
Fix trends instead of recounting more examples of the same problem

This is an important concept. Some people waste valuable time in therapy and in life recounting several examples of the same problem. These examples are more instances of the same trend. learn how to quickly identify the trend and heal the cause.

Some technical points to keep in mind

1
Problems and causes
2
Feelings and sensations
3
The difference between being better and feeling better
4
The problem is chronic
5
What is normal, common, appropriate and correct?
6
The four levels of the mind
7
"Mind is the builder"
8
Change inside first to achieve better results in life
9
Change from wthin
10
How often we meet is important
11
Consider this...
