Variable is used to store a value that you can use later.Each variable in Java has a specific type, which determines the size and layout of the variable's memory; the range of values that can be stored within that memory; and the set of operations that can be applied to the variable.

Data Types in JAVA

int => A 32-bit (4-byte) integer value e.g. 78, 90,100

short => A 16-bit (2-byte) integer value e.g. 9,10,100

Java Scanner class: There are various ways to read input from the keyboard, the java.util.Scanner class is one of them.

Commonly used methods of Scanner class

  • public String next() => it returns the next token from the scanner.
  • public String nextLine()=> it moves the scanner position to the next line and returns the value as a string.
  • public byte nextByte() =>it scans the next token as a byte.
  • public short nextShort() =>it scans the next token as a short value.
  • public int nextInt() =>it scans the next token as an int value.

What is Inheritance
Inheritance in java is a mechanism in which one object acquires all the properties and behaviors of parent object.

The idea behind inheritance in java is that you can create new classes that are built upon existing classes. When you inherit from an existing class, you can reuse methods and fields of parent class, and you can add new methods and fields also.

Inheritance represents the IS-A relationship, also known as parent-child relationship.

Why use inheritance in java
  • For Method Overriding (so runtime polymorphism can be achieved).
  • For Code Reusability

    What is an Abstract Class

    Abstract class in Java

    A class that is declared with abstract keyword, is known as abstract class in java. It can have abstract and non-abstract methods (method with body).

    Abstraction in Java

    Abstraction is a process of hiding the implementation details and showing only functionality to the user.

    Another way, it shows only important things to the user and hides the internal details for example sending sms, you just type the text and send the message. You don't know the internal processing about the message delivery.

    Abstraction lets you focus on what the object does instead of how it does it.

    An interface in java is a blueprint of a class. It has static constants and abstract methods only.

    The interface in java is a mechanism to achieve fully abstraction. There can be only abstract methods in the java interface not method body. It is used to achieve fully abstraction and multiple inheritance in Java.

    Java Interface also represents IS-A relationship.

    It cannot be instantiated just like abstract class.

    Why use Java interface?

    There are mainly three reasons to use interface. They are given below.
